September 2007 marked the start of the changes for all new staff in the lifelong learning sector whose main role is teaching, training or tutoring.
As a result of this all new staff fulfilling these roles in the FE sector are now legally required to work towards gaining Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or Associate Teacher Learning and Skills (ATLS) status.
This new requirement is part of the government’s wider initiative to develop a highly qualified and professional education workforce through reforms in teaching, qualifications and continuing professional development for those working within the entire Lifelong Learning And Skills sector.
Future (Awards and Qualifications) are offering a list of qualifications that are designed for all teaching, tutoring and instructing in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
