Qualification Overview
The purpose of the FAQ Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Motorcycle Riding (RQF) is to provide Learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to prepare, ride and manoeuvre ambulance motorcycles under both routine and emergency response conditions.
The FAQ Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Motorcycle Riding (RQF) is a specialist qualification designed to uphold the highest standards of safety, skill, and operational readiness in emergency motorcycle response. Due to the inherently high-risk nature of motorcycle-based emergency medical response, this qualification is exclusively delivered by the London Ambulance Service through their dedicated Motorcycle Response Unit and is available only to individuals employed within this unit.
This restriction ensures that training is conducted by experienced professionals in a controlled environment, using protocols and practices tailored to the unique demands of urban emergency motorcycle operations. It safeguards both the public and responders by maintaining rigorous standards of competence, situational awareness, and risk management.
By limiting access to this qualification, the London Ambulance Service ensures that only those with the appropriate operational context, support infrastructure, and professional oversight are entrusted with this critical and high-risk role.
This qualification forms part of the FutureQuals Ambulance Service Driving Qualification Suite.
