Reasons to be cheerful this ‘Blue Monday’
Let’s face it, mid January isn’t the most inspiring time of year. The weather is cold, the nights are still long and bank balances are still suffering from Christmas.
The good news to start with is that ‘Blue Monday’ isn’t based on science – there’s no reason to suggest today is any more ‘depressing’ than any other this month, and there’s every reason to flip the narrative and be inspired, especially when you hear about some of the mental health qualifications we’ve developed.
Here are three reasons to lift your day this ‘Blue Monday’ and even make a difference in someone else’s life.
Longer days
It’s almost a month since the winter solstice, and every day it gets light around 2 minutes earlier and dark around two minutes later. Before long many of us will be leaving work in the daylight.
The year is still young
There’s no need to bin those New Year’s resolutions you’ may have broken. An anonymous quote sometimes attributed to Bill Gates still holds true whoever said it first: “People overestimate what they can do in a day and underestimate what they can do in a year.” So don’t get down if you don’t nail your to-do list today – you still have over 11 months to make those changes you were hoping for in 2025.
There are so many ways to benefit others’ mental health
If you’re a training provider, charity or employer why not consider running qualifications from the FutureQuals Mental Health suite?
- FAQ Level 2 Award in Mental Health: Workplace Responder
- FAQ Level 3 Award in Mental Health: Workplace First Aider (RQF)
These two qualifications help individuals to learn about and identify different types of mental health conditions and respond to mental health emergencies.
Our Level 2 qualification is geared towards individuals who intend to work as mental health workplace responders, but it is also relevant to other employees and managers who want to develop their knowledge of mental health conditions.
Our Level 3 qualification is aimed at individuals who intend to work as mental health workplace first aiders with responsibility for responding to workplace mental health episodes, intervening and escalating, as appropriate.
